Hey – Don’t be a Bush!

Posted by John Hummel on November 17, 2008

If any good thing has come out of the Bush administration, it’s that it’s taught world leaders what not to do. Evidently French President Sarkozy got Russian President Putin to stop being overly aggressive towards Georgia – because people would think he was acting like George Bush.

Makes you wonder about the real Bush legacy – if people will start referring to doing anything stupid on the International level as “pulling a Bush.”

Obama’s current focus: Auto Industry. Bush’s Focus: Uhhhhh….

Posted by John Hummel on November 12, 2008

Can someone seriously tell me what the Bush game plan is for the last 60 days of his administration? Hoover, before Roosevelt took charge, used his last few months in office to sit on his ass and complain that there was nothing he could do. Within the first year of Roosevelt taking office, Roosevelt started getting stuff done.

So why is Bush eager to repeat history? while President-Elect Barack Obama is interested in saving the Us auto industry and the tens of thousands of jobs that go along with it, Bush is going on about the free market:

“In no way did president the suggest that there was a quid pro quo,” said White House press secretary Dana Perino. But, she added, “he did talk about the merits of free trade.”

Bush – this is your moment! You had one at 9-11, when you stood up and proclaimed “We’re going to get bin Laden dead or alive!” Since then, you’ve, well, sucked. This is your chance to show people you really give a damn about the common guy you claim to support.

President Bush – you could be the one to save the auto industry and push through high fuel standards in return, to proclaim that you’re going to push through a spending plan that will help the faltering economy.

Instead, it’s like you’re demoralized, you’ve just given up. You had your flash of greatness back in 2001 on top of wreckage – and you’ve done nothing but sit on that wreckage since then. This would be a great time to actually make some good things happen, remove the taint of “Worst President Ever” from your name, and leave on a high note.

It’s not hard. Just tell Cheney to shut his pie-hole, and act like the President.

Bush scandals = Clinton scandals = Stupid asshat idea

Posted by John Hummel on November 7, 2008

Clinton got caught letting some 20-something suck his wiener.

Bush has been caught lying to get a country into a war that kills thousands, endorsed a policy of torture that will stain America for a generation, worked to trash the environment so people could get rich, outed an undercover CIA operative for petty vindictiveness, had people fired to suit his own political ends, and generally acted like a jerk.

OK – the last isn’t a scandal. But Glenn Greenwald does a great job tearing apart the argument that both Clinton and Bush were equally as terrible as the other.

Yeah. One brought in a good economy, budget surpluses, and what few military engagements didn’t involve thousands of US deaths. The other – well, I think we know what we’ve gotten so far. Totally equal.

So how bad can the transition be?

Posted by John Hummel on November 5, 2008

Now that Senator Obama has evolved into President Elect Obama, current President Bush has offered “complete cooperation” for the transition.

Hopefully it will go well – but what about when it doesn’t? Like – in 1932, when Hoover was so pissed about losing he refused to do anything to help the nation while banks failed by the hundreds, and Roosevelt was powerless to do anything until he officially became President.

Oh, sure, Bush could decide to do the same thing if he really wanted. But even he can’t be that stupid. Right, folks?

Right?

Peaceful Party breaks out outside White House

Posted by John Hummel on November 5, 2008

How does it feel, to know that you are so hated as a President and a party, that the election of your opponent starts a party of thousands of people right outside your house?

Then again, too bad Bush was in Camp David last night. He could have joined the party.

Bush Loyalists Ignore He’s the Most Hated President Since the 1930’s

Posted by John Hummel on November 3, 2008

This is just amazing. Doesn’t matter that President Bush is now the most despised President in almost 100 years, his backers will believe in him until the end.

You know- like the guys who followed General Custer into battle.

Campains’ latest ads: Man, Bush sucks, huh?

Posted by John Hummel on October 16, 2008

McCain’s new ad is interesting. It basically says “Well, Bush sucks – but so does Obama” – he even gets a dig in at Biden’s “it’s a patriotic duty to pay your taxes” line (I’d say if you don’t pay your taxes, why do you hate the troops)?

It’s a nicer, kindler, McCain as he tries to tell people that he’s a much *better* Republican than Bush. Will it work?

At the same time, Obama uses McCain’s line of “I’m not George Bush” and rams it down his throat:
