President-Elect Obama might not be President Obama yet, but it looks like he’s already having a mark on the economy. Businesses are lining up lobbyists to try and sway the upcoming Obama administration one way or the other. The decisions that now President-Elect Obama makes can already start to move the auto industry as they realize they’re up against someone who will really move to enforce mileage standards. Or perhaps how the financial markets will be held accountable for their actions.
Things are already moving, people. Hope you’re paying attention.

Yet another sign of the bad economic times – SAAB is planning on cutting 500 jobs from the roster. Usually companies that make “quality” level items – the things that “Joe Sixpack” wouldn’t be able to afford can whether bad economic times because the number of people who can buy such things doesn’t diminish.
That now even SAAB is being effected starts to give a clue to how deep the cuts in the economic crisis are going.

Or perhaps I should say the effort to fight global warming. As the markets slow down, the last thing people want to worry about it whether the new coal plant will hurt the planet or their electrical bills.
This is especially true in the plans to create an carbon emissions capping plans. Hopefully if we green the economy instead of just doing what we’ve always done, we can do both.
