HIV is AIDS denier may have killed hundreds of thousands

Posted by John Hummel on November 26, 2008

Remember the people claiming that “HIV wasn’t AIDS, it’s a conspiracy by The Man” and other nonsense? Turns out the South African government’s role in that stupidity may have cost over 350,000 their lives by not getting the medicine that would have slowed down the HIV virus:

The Harvard researchers quantified the human cost of that inaction by comparing the number of people who got antiretrovirals in South Africa from 2000 to 2005 with the number the government could have reached had it put in place a workable treatment and prevention program.

They estimated that by 2005, South Africa could have been helping half those in need but had reached only 23 percent. By comparison, Botswana was already providing treatment to 85 percent of those in need, and Namibia to 71 percent.

Klan killing makes for worst initiation ever

Posted by John Hummel on November 13, 2008

OK – you decide to try something new. Like, join the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). But when you show up, you discover “Hey, you have to wear hoods? Dude, I’m out of here!”

Turns out – this can lead to you getting killed. I should use the word “allegedly” – but what, did you expect understanding from the KKK when you said “Uh, you know – nevermind.”

I’ve heard Obama’s an Arab – I helped tell people!

Posted by John Hummel on October 13, 2008

You may have heard about this moment:

Turns out the reason she heard “Obama was an Arab”, was she read it in the library in a pamplet. Then, to make sure everybody else heard it, she mailed a copy of the pamplet and then mailed 400 random people from the phone book a copy.

And even after her supposed choice Senator McCain said “Uh, no, Senator Obama is a decent man”, she till doesn’t believe it. After all – she read it in a pamplet. In the library. Right next to the section about Bigfoot.
