Stevens, Meet the underside of the bus

Posted by John Hummel on October 30, 2008

Poor Senator Stevens. Now that he’s been found guilty of all 7 charges of bribery and corruption, his fellow Senate Republicans are lining up to toss him under the bus and get rid of him.

Who knows – maybe they’re afraid that now that Stevens is a felon, his right to vote in the Senate will be revoked. I mean hey – if ordinary citizens can have their voting rights removed for committing a crime, why not senators?

Steven’s trial goes to jury.

Posted by John Hummel on October 23, 2008

No, not Juri – jury (sorry, major nerd reference there).

My money is on a guilty verdict, but I’m not in the room out there. I will say that I’m sweating down here in Florida – but maybe even the Alaskan chill isn’t going to be enough to cool Steven’s night sweats tonight.

Steven’s Trial is almost over

Posted by John Hummel on October 20, 2008

Senator Ted Steven’s trial is likely to wrap up on Tuesday, and evidently Senator Stevens has been getting a little testy:

Morris and Stevens dueled over a $2,700 massage chair given to Stevens by his neighbor, Bob Persons, in 2001. Stevens never reported getting the chair from Persons, a potential violation of Senate ethics rules.

Stevens still has the chair in his home but he considers it a “loan.”

“It’s just a loan,” Stevens insisted of the massage chair.

Watch out for taking loans from massage chairs. One of these days, that massage chair comes to collect – and that shiatsu turns to murder

Stick a fork in Stevens – he’s done

Posted by John Hummel on October 15, 2008

Ted Steven’s trial just took a turn for the worse with testimony from a witness that they were pressured not to submit the full bill for his renovation.

Which is the heart of the whole case. If the prosecution can prove this witness’s testimony is true, then Steven’s may be about to go for a trip to the federal pokey.
